HOME > CITY COUNCIL > ELECTIONS

The City of Lanesboro has an election every even year. To qualify to apply for a council position, an applicant must be 21 years of age on the date he or she would take office, can only apply for one office per election, and must live in the City of Lanesboro. If interested in applying for a council seat or the mayoral position, one must fill out the Affidavit of Candidacy (PDF) Form not more than 70 days or less than 56 days before the general election. Once you have downloaded the file you may fill it out and pay the $2.00 filing fee at the City Office. This puts you on the election ballot for the position on the council that you are applying for.

The City of Lanesboro is always seeking community members willing to do their civic duty by serving as an election judge in the election process. Election judges get paid hourly and usually work shifts throughout the primary and the general election. To become an election judge one must fill out this downloadable form (PDF), and bring it in to the City Administrator at the City Office. Once accepted as an election judge, some training is required, but all time is paid. One can not be an election judge if a spouse, parent, child or sibling is running for candidacy or is another election judge. If you are interested in becoming an election judge, please contact the City Office. We would be happy to hear from you!
