The City of Lanesboro employs one full-time person for the Street Department.

Andy Drake is the Street Commissioner and has been employed with the City since 1990. Andy is responsible to maintain all city streets, sidewalks, and alleys. He is responsible to budget for and have policies and procedures in relation to blacktopping, sidewalk replacement, street sealing, sweeping/washing streets, brush control, tree trimming and maintenance along boulevards and curb and gutter replacement and maintenance. He is also responsible for keeping storm drains open and maintained for smooth flowing of water. Andy must maintain and keep records of all equipment, order road rock, sand and salt and is designated as the City weed inspector, and the Brush Dump Control person. Andy supervises all staff (PU and Park) for snow removal in the winter season. Andy represents not only the City of Lanesboro but also the Lanesboro Fire Department and the Lanesboro Ambulance too. He is the 1st Assistant Chief for the Lanesboro Fire Department!
