Council Chambers
January 17th, 2006
MEMBER(S) PRESENT: Evenson, Drake & Schuck
MEMBER ABSENT:
OTHER(S) PRESENT: B. Torgerson, Mayor Steve Rahn

REGULAR MEETING CALLED TO ORDER:
Evenson called regular meeting to order.

AGENDA:
With the addition of the yearly procedures, Schuck made motion to approve the agenda, second by Drake, motion carried.

MINUTES:
Drake made motion to approve the minutes, second by Schuck, motion carried.

PERSONS WITH BUSINESS BEFORE THE COMMISSION
No persons before the Utility Commission.

HOUSEKEEPING:
A. Bills
Drake made motion to approve and pay bills as presented, second Schuck, motion carried.
B. Administrator’s Report
Torgerson went through financials presented. Audit will be done at the end of January, hoping for a positive result for the Utilities. Cash Flow is doing well and it is exciting that we have a comfortable amount in checking along with savings.
C. Past Due Utility Bills
It was mentioned that the list has increased. Torgerson mentioned that some of the past people are back on the list, which is similar from past years. She will work with Manion to start the process of collection.
D. Postage Machine
Torgerson explained that by leasing postage machine the City and Utility may be able to save money. Drake made motion to approve a 24 month lease for the Pitney Bowes equipment, second by Schuck, motion carried.
E. UMMPA
Evenson asked Torgerson to look into the option of going to one of the next UMMPA meetings whether it is in February or March. Torgerson stated that February would be tough, but maybe we could participate in the March meeting, she will contact Chuck Christenson.
F. Water Complaint – Philip & Sigrid O’Keefe
The O’Keefe’s had intended to come to the meeting, but due to conflicts were unable to attend. Torgerson presented that the O’Keefes are frustrated with the brown water situation and are tired of their clothes being wrecked. They want some type of action. Evenson and the commission asked Torgerson to look into getting a survey of the residents in that area as to what problems they have had with the water.
G. Yearly Procedures
Drake made motion to approve the following with a second by Schuck, motion carried.
Official Depository – Associated Bank
Official Check Signatures – Gerry Evenson, Bobbie Torgerson & Rita Peterson
Chairman – Gerry Evenson
Schedule of Meetings – Approved as presented
All other operations consistent and same as prior years.

At the end of the meeting, Mayor Rahn thanked the Commission for their hard work and let them know how much he appreciated all of their time and effort. He also mentioned that the Council is checking their salaries and comparing them and felt that the Utilities should also look at their salaries to look towards an increase in the future. Once again, he gave a heartfelt thank you for their dedication and service.
