The Lanesboro Planning & Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider granting a zoning amendment for property setback requirements for the property located at 18 Beacon Street East, Lanesboro, MN.
The public hearing will be held on Wednesday, January 20th, 2021 at 6 p.m. via Zoom.

Deadline to Apply for the COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program is
Monday, December 7 at 11:59 p.m.The COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program provides housing assistance payments to help prevent eviction, prevent homelessness, and maintain housing stability for eligible renters and homeowners. The program is designed to cover expenses such as rent, mortgage, utilities or other housing-related expenses that were incurred after March 1, 2020 and are past due.Individuals and families interested in applying can:

- Text “MNRENT” or “MNHOME” to 898-211.
The 211 helpline has dedicated multilingual staff available to answer questions about the COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program, 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. daily.The deadline to apply for rent, mortgage, and utility assistance through the COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program is Monday, December 7 at 11:59 p.m. Online applications must be in “Submitted” status and paper applications must be postmarked by December 7. You may have noticed the beautiful lights that usually adorn the north bluff have been missing. Unfortunately, the tree itself is failing. Efforts have been made to try to patch it up to make it through the Holiday season this year.
This does mean that it is time for a change. We need to make considerations to rebuild or reinvent the tree so that future generations can continue to enjoy it’s beauty. Our goal will be to do this and have something improved, however equally as beautiful for the 2021 Holiday season.

**Emergency Repair**Lanesboro Public Utilities had identified a water leak on Hillcrest Avenue. Crew members are working to make the repair. Unfortunately many properties on the north side of town will be without water until the leak is repaired. We apologize for any inconvenience, and will work as quickly as possible to resume service.
All Meetings will be virtual due to the new mandates and to help stop the spread of coronavirus.
This year the Lanesboro American Legion Post #40 will not be placing collection boxes for toys in area locations, instead will host a drive-up donation day on Saturday, November 21st. Donations may be dropped off curbside at the Lanesboro American Legion, 103 Elmwood, Lanesboro, from 9am-2pm.
Because of the pandemic many families are struggling economically and there is a greater need for donations this season. Please consider giving generously this year.

The City of Lanesboro adopted, on October 5, 2020, the following grant program recommended by the Lanesboro Economic Development Authority (EDA). Through grant funding provided by the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation, Lanesboro EDA will provide a $200.00 grant to small businesses located within the 55949 zip code. The maximum expenditures by the City of Lanesboro is is a total of $10,000 in grants. Business loans are also available through the EDA’s revolving loan fund.
